Where balloons fit, and where they don't

Balloons suit happy news: a birthday at the office, a new baby, a graduation or a get well wish for someone recovering at home. Hospitals are trickier. Many don't allow latex balloons because of allergies, and some units limit balloons altogether, so call ahead; foil balloons are more often accepted. For a funeral or a family in mourning, leave balloons out and choose sympathy flowers instead.
