Easter Plants

Easter plants keep the holiday blooming for weeks. Choose a white Easter lily plant, tulip and muscari bulb gardens, a pink calla lily or a phalaenopsis orchid, each hand-selected and delivered by a local florist near the recipient.

A plant suits a host or grandparent who'd rather tend something living. Book Easter plant delivery for Saturday or earlier, and see the care tips below.

Choosing Easter plants

Easter lilies and other spring plants

Two Easter lilies lead this collection: the Easter Sentiments Lily Plant, in a large or small size and a simple decorative pot, and the Easter Blessing Lily in a rustic whitewashed planter. Both arrive budded, so they open over the following days and keep blooming past the holiday. The Sweet Serenity Bulb Garden holds sprouted tulips and muscari in a basketweave planter, and the Sweet Spring Tulip Bulb Garden shows pink, purple and yellow tulips in a bright blue container. Three phalaenopsis orchids and a Pink Calla Lily in Natural Wrap round out the choice. More lilies and tulips are among our Easter flowers.

Easter lily plant care

Set the lily in bright, indirect light, away from heat vents, and water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Remove the yellow anthers as each flower opens to keep pollen off the petals and the tablecloth, and snip spent blooms to keep it tidy. After the flowers fade, the bulb can go into a sunny garden bed once frost has passed.

Easter plant questions

Do Easter lilies come back every year?

They can. Easter lilies are forced to bloom early in greenhouses, but planted outdoors in a sunny, well-drained spot after the last frost, many come back in later years, usually flowering in early summer rather than at Easter. In colder areas, a thick layer of mulch helps them through winter.

Are Easter lilies safe for cats?

No. All parts of an Easter lily, including the pollen and even the water in the saucer, are highly toxic to cats and can cause kidney failure. For a home with a cat, choose one of our orchids instead, since phalaenopsis orchids are generally considered safe for cats and dogs.

How long does an Easter lily bloom?

Each flower usually lasts several days, and a plant with several buds can stay in bloom for one to two weeks. Keeping it cool and out of direct sun stretches that out. Browse more flowering plants for gifts that bloom.
