Graduations, new jobs and promotions
Graduation calls for bright, happy color, and many people choose flowers in the graduate's school colors. Ceremonies are crowded and often fall on a weekend, so it's easier to send flowers to the graduate's home just before or after the big day than to the venue. Our graduation flowers are a good place to start. For a new job or a promotion, flowers on the desk during the first week say you're proud of them. At an office, the flowers are received at the front desk or reception during business hours, so pick a weekday and include the company name. The Purple Phalaenopsis Orchid, set in a glass cube sized for a desk or counter, suits a professional milestone, and orchids are often linked with success and admiration.
New homes, engagements and other good news
A first home is a natural time for a plant, since it settles in with the new owners and keeps growing; browse our plants for ideas. An engagement leans romantic. Love Love Love, a dozen red roses tied in raffia, says it simply and comes in 12, 18 or 24 stems, and you'll find more in wedding and romantic gifts. Plenty of other wins deserve flowers too: a passed exam, a finished marathon, a first book, an opening night. If the news is a baby, see new baby flowers and gifts, and for the end of a long career, retirement flowers and gifts.
A plant that lasts or a bright bouquet
Ask yourself how long you want the congratulations to stay in view. A bouquet makes the bigger splash on the day, and nine of the 13 gifts here are fresh bouquets with plenty of color: Timeless Tulips gathers a rainbow of tulips in 15, 20 or 25 stems, Fields of Europe Celebration takes its bright mix from European market bouquets, and Spring Regal Wrap bundles roses, sunflowers, alstroemeria and delphinium in kraft paper. Yellow, orange and pink are often associated with joy and success. A plant keeps going long after cut flowers fade. The two Phalaenopsis orchid plants here often stay in bloom for weeks, sometimes months, and with the Designer's Choice Blooming Plant, the local florist picks the healthiest, most colorful plant on hand that day. Timing your congratulations flower delivery
When the date is set, such as a graduation or a first day at work, schedule the congratulations bouquet ahead. Enter the recipient's ZIP code to see available dates and pick one before you check out, and include any suite, apartment or building name in the address. There are no Sunday deliveries, so for a Sunday ceremony, choose Saturday. Most deliveries arrive by 8:00 PM in the recipient's time zone and an exact time can't be guaranteed, so if the flowers are for a party, plan on the day before. Delivery fees start at $13.99, and same-day or next-day dates may add a small charge, shown on the delivery calendar.
What to write on a congratulations card
Enter your note at checkout and it's included on a card with the flowers. Name the milestone and say you're proud: "Congratulations, Dr. Patel! All those late nights paid off." "So proud of you, Jess. The new team is lucky to have you." "Welcome home! Wishing you many happy years on Maple Street." "Congratulations to you both. We can't wait to celebrate!" Two or three lines is plenty. A gift from the whole office can be signed as the department, and a personal one with your full name, so they know exactly who's cheering them on.
